West Haven tops Career
Pagan, Tighe lead way in opener

he West Haven cross country team ran against Sheehan, Law and Career Thursday afternoon in Wallingford.

The boys defeated Career 15-50, but lost to Law 41-47 and Sheehan 32-41.

The top runners for the Westies were junior Matt Pagan with a time of 20 minutes, 27 seconds for a fifth place overall finish. Sophomore Kiitikom Tighe finished in sixth place overall at 20:36 for a personal best. Senior Khai Outhavong finished in 21:39.

On the girls side, senior Maryangel Cruz was West Haven’s only female runner and finished in a time of 28:10.

Personal bests for numerous runners

 - The West Haven cross country team traveled to Guilford Tuesday afternoon, where the Grizzlies came out victorious, followed by Amity and West Haven.
It was a big day for the Westies as 10 runners ran and all set a personal best. Matt Pagan finished in 18 minutes, 20 seconds, Kittikhom Tighe ran in 18:25, Dan Potter finished in 19:05, and Maryangel Cruz finished in 25:42.
“We are a young team and improving,” West Haven coach Bill McDermott said.
All of the runners improved by two minutes over last week’s meet.

Tighe has personal best in divisional meet

 - The West Haven cross country team ran at Madison Tuesday afternoon against Hand, Shelton and East Haven. The Westies defeated East Haven, but fell against Hand and Shelton.
The top runners for West Haven were Kittikhom Tighe in 18 minutes, 15 seconds, Matt Pagan in 18:40 and Dan Potter in 19:05.

Tighe also set a personal best at the divisional meet last week in 17:49.
