  - West Haven fell to 1-11 with a 6-1 home defeat against Jonathan Law Saturday morning. The loss was West Haven’s seventh in a row.
In singles action, Law’s top seed of Lucia Pino defeated Anaelecea Turcio 6-0, 6-0, West Haven’s second seed Savannah Lopez posted her team’s lone victory by defeating Samantha Burns 6-2, 6-1, and Law’s third seed of Jenna Bagdasarian topped Celia Williams 6-0, 6-0. Law also won in the fourth slot as Diya Daruka defeated Marley Hauer 6-0, 6-0. 

In doubles action, Law’s top seed of Sabrina Lawless and Olivia Hudak defeated Alexandria Valverde and Fatmanur Aciker 6-1, 6-0, second-seeded Sophie Maselli and Nihitha Kothapalli topped Jeanette McLaughlin and Jenna Massaro 6-0, 6-0, and third-seeded Isabella Gecaj and Chloe Haasch topped Jaia Smith and Hilari Morrobel-Diplan 6-1, 6-1.

  - The West Haven girls tennis team fell to 2-12 with a 7-0 loss on the road against Lyman Hall Friday afternoon in Wallingford.
In singles play, top-seeded Olivia Vegliante defeated West Havem’s Savannah Lopez 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), (10-6), second-seeded Riley Sullivan topped Rebecca Oronzo of West Haven  6-1, 6-0, and  Katie Madow defeated Anaelecea Turcio  6-0, 6-2. Lyman Hall’s fourth seed of Sophia Donath topped Marley Hauer 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Lyman Hall’s Keertana Chagari and Abigail French topped Celia Williams and Alexandra Valverde 6-1, 6-1, Julie Fredricksen and Gianna Draghi defeated Jeanette McLaughlin and Elyze Ancheta  6-0, 6-0, and Rebecca Milewski and Kayla Dorvil topped Vinesah Mumar and Jenna Massaro 6-1, 6-2. 

Westies fall to East Haven in opener

he West Haven girls tennis team opened the 2021 season with a 6-1 road loss against East Haven.  

In singles play, top seed Rebecca Oronzo fell to Doreen Alberino 6-0, 6-0, second-seeded Marley Hauer lost to Megan Povilaitis 6-1, 6-1 , while third-seeded Anaelecea defeated Diana Vazquez 6-2, 6-3. Fourth-seeded Fatmanur Aciker lost to Siya Patel 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles play, Emily Sortito and Camryn Lendroth defeated West Haven’s. Celia Williams and Vinesah Mumar 6-0,6-1. East Haven’s second seed of Karlee Lynn and Izabella Olszewski defeated Elyze Ancheta and Hilari Morrobel-Diplan 6-1,6-2. Third-seeded Isha Patel and Diya Patel of East Haven won over West Haven’s Jaia Smith 6-1, 6-2. 


Sheehan tops Westies

  - The West Haven girls tennis team fell to 0-2 with a 7-0 loss against Sheehan in Wallingford Monday afternoon.
In singles play, Sheehan’s top seed of Maddie Yasgar beat West Haven’s Rebecca Oronzo 6-0, 6-1. Second-seeded Daytona Scherb of Sheehan topped Marley Hauer 6-0, 6-1, and third-seeded Jordyn Allen of the Titans beat Anaelecea Turcio 6-0, 6-0. Dylan Smith beat Fatmanur Aciker 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth slot.  
In doubles action, Sheehan’s Becky Falcone and Alondra Lopez topped West Haven’s Jenna Massaro and Elyze Ancheta 6-0, 6-0. Sheehan’s second seed of Lexi Carim and Sydney Cuticelli defeated West Haven’s Celia Williams and Jeanette McLaughlin 6-0, 6-0, while the third seed of Sheehan, Halle Digioia and Emily Jasinski beat Vinesah Mumar and Hilari Morrobel-Diplan 6-0, 6-0.

  - The West Haven girls tennis team fell to 0-3 with a 7-0 loss at Jonathan Law Wednesday afternoon.
In singles action, Law’s top seed of Lucia Pino defeated Savannah Lopez 6-0, 6-0, while second-seeded Samantha Burns topped West Haven’s Rebecca Oronzo 6-0, 6-0. Hamden defeats Westies
Green Dragons prevail 5-2

  - The West Haven girls tennis team fell to Hamden 5-2 at West Haven High Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, West Haven fell to 0-4 on the year.

West Haven’s lone victories came in singles play. Top-seeded Savannah Lopez won 6-1, 7-6 (7-1), while fourth-seeded Anaelecea Turcio posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Second-seeded Rebecca Oronzo fell to Vineeta Mavan, while third-seeded Marley Hauer fell to Ella Powers 6-0, 6-0.In doubles play, top-seeded Celia Williams and Alexandria Valverde lost 6-1, 6-1, second-seeded Fatmanur Aciker and Jeanette McLaughlin lost 6-4, 7-5, and third-seeded Jenna Massaro and Vinesah Mumar lost 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

 - The West Haven girls tennis team fell to 1-5 with a 6-1 home loss to Lyman Hall Friday afternoon. West Haven’s lone victory came in singles play as fourth-seeded Anaelecea Turcio defeated Ava Mirto 6-0, 6-0.  
Singles play saw Lyman Hall’s top seed of Olivia Vegliante defeat Savannah Lopez 6-2, 6-6 (8-6) in a tie-breaker, while second-seeded Riley Sullivan of Lyman Hall defeated Rebecca Oronzo 6-0, 6-0. Third-seeded Katie Madow defeated West Haven’s Marley Hauer 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, Lyman Hall’s top seed of Keertana Chagari and Abigail French topped West Haven’s defeat Celia Williams and Alexandra Valverde 6-0, 6-0. Lopez wins in 6-1 defeat

  - The West Haven girls tennis team fell to 1-6 with a 6-1 loss at Shelton Monday afternoon. West Haven’s lone victory came when top-seeded Savannah Lopez defeated Shelton’s Nell Komorowski, 6-4, 0-6, 7-5.
The rest of singles play saw Shelton’s second seed Jess Jayakar defeat West Haven’s Rebecca Oronzo, 6-0, 6-0, Emily Carlin top West Haven’s Marley Hauer, 6-0, 6-0, and fourth-seeded Carolyn Maher defeat West Haven’s Anaelecea Turcio, 6-0, 6-0. 
In doubles play, Shelton’s top seed of Kassidy Wojtowicz and Sam McCook defeated West Haven’s Fatmanur Aciker and Jeanette McLaughlin 6-1, 6-0. Shelton’s second seed of Emily Ahern and Emily Cacchillo topped West Haven’s Jenna Massaro and Vinesah Mumar, 6-0, 6-1, while third-seeded Lily May and Rachel Morrow defeated West Haven’s Celia Williams and Elyze Ancheta 6-0, 6-1.

 - The West Haven girls tennis team fell to 1-7 with a 7-0 loss to Branford at Painter Park in West Haven Wednesday afternoon.
In singles play, top-seeded Savannah Lopez fell to Shea Lepre 6-1, 6-3, second-seeded Rebecca Oronzo lost to Leila Omeragi 6-0, 6-1, third-seeded Marley Hauer lost to Evelyn Mollow 6-0, 6-0, and fourth-seeded Anaelecea Turcio lost to Nuala Pamdyal 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles play, top-seeded Elyze Ancheta and Alexandria Valverde fell 6-0, 6-0, second-seeded Celia Williams and Fatmanur Aciker 6-2, 6-2, and third-seeded Jenna Masaro and Vinesah Mumar 6-3, 6-3.

In singles play, top-seeded Savannah Lopez fell to Maddy Yesyar 6-2, 6-1, second-seeded Rebecca Oronzo lost to Daytona Scherb 6-0, 6-0, third-seeded Anaelecea Turcio dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision against Jordyn Allen, and fourth-seeded Marley Hauer lost 6-0, 6-0 against Dylan Smith.
