(April 25, 2024) - The West Haven boys tennis team got back on the winning side with a 4-3 victory over Shelton Thursday afternoon at West Haven High. With the victory, West Haven improved to 8-3 on the year.
In singles action, top-seeded Miguel Torres defeated Chase Graber 6-3, 6-3, second-seeded Brandon Sihaphong topped Jack Parkes 6-1, 7-6, and third-seeded Eshwar Balakumar defeated Adam Klein 6-3, 6-4. Shelton’s fourth seed Nikil Dagar defeated West Haven’s Johnny Chen 4-6, 6-2, 7-6.
In doubles play, Shelton’s top seed of J.P. Kocot and Soham Agrwal defeated West Haven’s Javon Huang and Caden Mateo 7-5, 6-4. West Haven won the second seed as David Guadarrama and Ali Hamza topped Kevin Foley and Krishiv Patel 6-0, 6-1, while Shelton’s third seed of Johnathan Ryder and Prime Minister Shah defeated Daniel Davis and Jordan Smith 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

(April 29, 2024) - The West Haven boys tennis team improved to 9-3 with a 7-0 victory over Lyman Hall at West Haven High Monday afternoon.
In singles play, top-seeded Miguel Torres defeated Nate Rininger 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, second-seeded Brandon Sihaphong topped Ashul Patel 6-4. 7-5, third-seeded Eshwar Balakumar won over Ethan Tuxbary 6-2, 6-3, and fourth-seeded Johnny Chen defeated Luca Delucia 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles action, top-seeded Javon Huang and Caden Mateo won over Michael Mastriano and Dylan Stackpole 6-2, 7-5, second-seeded David Guadarrama and Ali Hamza topped Jake Marone and Jordan Macri 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, and third-seeded Daniel Davis and Jordan Smith defeated David Arsenault and Zack Rininger 7-5. 3-6, 11-9.

(April 30, 2024) - The West Haven boys tennis team had a hard-fought match at cross-town rival Notre Dame and fell 5-2 Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, West Haven dropped to 9-4 on the year.
Both of West Haven’s victories came in singles play from Brandon Sihaphong and Johnny Chen. In singles action, Notre Dame’s top seed Mike Lorenzetti defeated Miguel Torres 6-1, 6-3, second-seeded Sihaphong topped Reed Neumann 4-6, 6-1, 6-0, Notre Dame’s third seed Reaman Curis defeated Eshwar Balakumar 6-4, 7-5, and fourth-seeded Chen topped Davis Kunjuppa 6-1, 6-1.
Notre Dame won all three matches in doubles play. Top-seeded Pablo Cacino and Nick Sabina defeated Javon Huang and Caden Mateo 4-6, 7-5, 10-5, second-seeded Graham Lamboley and Matt Rizzo topped David Guadarrama and Ali Hamza 6-4. 6-0, and third-seeded Luke Ricci and Colin Lamboli defeated Daniel Davis and Jordan Smith 7-6, 6-3.

(May 2, 2024) - The West Haven boys tennis team dropped its second consecutive match with a 5-2 road loss against Lyman Hall in Wallingford Thursday afternoon. With the loss, West Haven fell to 9-5 on the year.

(May 3, 2024) - The West Haven boys tennis team snapped its two-match losing streak with a 4-3 victory over Jonathan Law in Milford Friday afternoon. With the victory, West Haven improved to 10-5 on the year.
West Haven won three of four singles matches as top-seeded Miguel Torres defeated Jon Urachida 6-2, 6-0., second-seeded Brandon Sihaphong topped Dean O’Donnell 7-6, 6-1, and third-seeded Eshwar Balakumar defeated Alastire Balin 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Law’s fourth-seeded Ryan Beredt topped West Haven’s Johnny Chen 6-2, 7-5.
In doubles play, Law’s top seed of Sean Luxeder and Seharsh Phafia defeated Ali Hamza and Caden Mateo 7-6, 1-6, 6-1, West Haven’s second seed of David Guadarrama and Javon Huang topped Arshag Ahmed and Parth Gokhole 6-1, 6-1, while Law’s third seed of Sri Gudlavaletti and Dylan Meselli defeated Daniel Davis and Jordan Smith 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

(May 6, 2024) - The West Haven boys tennis team improved to 11-5 with a 5-2 victory at Wilbur Cross Monday afternoon. The victory was West Haven’s second straight as the Westies won three of four singles matches and two of three doubles matches.
In singles action, top-seeded Miguel Torres defeated JJ O'garro 6-3, 6-2, second-seeded Brandon Sihaphong topped Adam Sharqawe 6-0, 6-3, and fourth-seeded Johnny Chen won over Adrian Sampedro 6-0. 6-1.
Julian Theodore of Wilbur Cross topped third-seeded Eshwar Balakumar 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles play, Cross won the top seed as Kurt Boone and Aki Hussain defeated Ali Hamza and Caden Mateo 6-0, 6-4.
West Haven won the next two seeds as second-seeded Javon Huang and Woobin Kim topped Meet Patel and Vikram Dalal 3-6, 7-5, 6-4, and third-seeded Daniel Davis and Jordan Smith defeated Ahilya Singh and Jenna Singh 5-7, 6-1, 10-7.

WH tops Foran 4-3

(May 16, 2024) - The West Haven boys tennis team improved to 12-5 with a 4-3 road victory over Foran Thursday afternoon. The Westies won all three doubles matches to pull out the victory.
Top-seeded Ali Hamza and Caden Mateo defeated Patrick Butler and Karthkeya Lakogi 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, second-seeded, Javon Huang and Woobin Kim topped Liam Bancock and Devin Dai 6-2, 6-4, and third-seeded David Guadarrama and Jordan Smith won over Travis Dub and Sully Riley 9-7.
West Haven’s only victory on the singles side came when Miguel Torres defeated Ryan Puvarance 6-3, 6-0.
Foran’s Arush Puri defeated Brandon Sihaphong 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the second slot, while third-seeded Tristan Odorino defeated West Haven’s. Eshwar Balakumar 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, and fourth-seeded Oscar Lin won over Johnny Chen 6-4.

In singles action, Miguel Torres defeated Jaylen Lopes 6-1, 7-5, second-seeded Eshwar Balakumar topped Abraham Perez 6-0, 6-0, third-seeded Johnny Chen topped Sy’Air Shakurr 6-0, 6-0, and fourth-seeded Woobin Kim won by default.

In singles play, top-seeded Mathias Schaiper topped Miguel Torres 6-1, 6-0, second-seeded Luke Baylis defeated Brandon Sihaphong 6-4, 7-5, third-seeded Evren Akin won over Eshwar Balakumar 6-4, 6-1, and fourth-seeded Alex Ferrara defeated Johnny Chen 6-3, 6-1.

(May 18, 2024) - The stay for West Haven in the Southern Connecticut Conference tournament was a short one as the seventh-seeded Westies fell to second-seeded Amity 7-0 in the quarterfinals at Amity High School Saturday morning.
In singles play, Thomas Sirincharto defeated Miguel Torres 6-0, 6-0, second-seeded Ethan Hass topped Brandon Sihaphong 6-1, 6-2, third-seeded Joey Kapel defeated Eshwar Balakumar 6-2, 6-1, and fourth-seeded Rohan Hebbar topped Johnny Chen 6-0, 6-0.

(April 1, 2024) - The West Haven boys tennis team opened the season with a 6-1 loss to Xavier at West Haven High Monday afternoon.
West Haven’s only victory came in singles play as fourth-seeded Johnny Chen Will Finch 6-4, 6-3. Top-seeded Jaycek Simko defeated West Haven’s Miguel Torres 3-6, 6-4, 7-5, second-seeded Nathan Philip topped West Haven’s Brandon Sihaphong 6-2, 6-1, and third-seeded Sam March won 6-2, 6-2 over Eshwar Balakumar of West Haven.
In doubles play, the Falcons swept all three matches. Top-seeded Nikhil Tailor and Aanay Chandra defeated West Haven’s Javon Huang and Caden Mateo 6-1, 6-0, second-seeded Will Despress and Bryson Hester topped David Guadarrama and Ali Hamza of West Haven 6-3, 6-3, and Petrus Paul and Ben Romero defeated West Haven’s Woobin Kim and Jordan Smith 6-0, 6-0.

(April 5, 2024) - The West Haven boys tennis team picked up its first victory of the season with a 6-1 road victory over Shelton Friday afternoon. The Westies improved to 1-1 with the victory.

In singles action, top-seeded Eshwar Balakumar defeated Paul Corsini 8-2, second-seeded Johnny Chen topped Josiah Tilghman, third-seeded David Guadarrama won over DJ Huggett 8-0, and fourth-seeded Ali Hamza topped Chris Hernandez 8-1.

Winning three of four singles matches, West Haven defeated Jonathan Law 4-3 at West Haven High Wednesday afternoon. West Haven improved to 4-1 with the victory.

In singles action, top-seeded Miguel Torres defeated Ryan Purviance 6-3, 6-0, second-seeded Brandon Sihaphong won over Arush Puri 6-0, 3-6, 6-1, while Foran won the final two singles spots. (April 17, 2024) - The winning streak has reached six matches for the West Haven boys tennis team. The Westies extended the streak with 7-0 victory over Career in New Haven Wednesday afternoon and improved to 6-1 on the year.
In singles play, top-seeded Miguel Torres posted a victory, while second-seeded Brandon Sihaphong also did the same. Third-seeded Eshwar Balakumar defeated Christian Santiago 6-0, 6-0 and fourth-seeded Johnny Chen topped Abraham Perez 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, top-seeded Javon Huang and Caden Mateo, second-seeded David Guadarrama and Ali Hamza, and third-seeded Daniel Davis and Jordan Smith all posted victories.

(April 22, 2024) - The West Haven boys tennis team saw its six-match winning streak come to an end with a 5-2 loss against cross-town rival Notre Dame Monday afternoon at West Haven High. With the loss, West Haven fell to 6-2 on the year.
In singles action, Notre Dame’s top seed Mike Lorazetti defeated Miguel Torres 6-0, 6-0, second-seeded Brandon Sihaphong of West Haven topped Reed Nanmonn 6-2, 6-1, Notre Dame’s third seed Reamon Cueis defeated Eshwar Balakumar 6-4, 2-6, 10-6, and West Haven’s fourth seed Johnny Chen topped Stephen Torres 6-0, 6-0.
The Green Knights won all doubles matches.
