(November 7, 2016) - The West Haven U9 boys travel soccer team closed out its season with a 2-2 tie against Stratford U9 on Sunday at Flood Middle School in Stratford. Goal scorers for the Blue Devils were Sean Studley and Dylan Agvent.
Malik Ouro Adei led the Westies' defense by using his speed and strength to control play from his center back position. Yunis El Mouki and Roman Vogel each played a half in goal for West Haven and both made several great saves.
Efe Tatar cleared a potential goal off the back line to help preserve the tie with just five minutes left in the match.
(October 30, 2016) - Here are some of the week’s highlights from the West Haven Youth Soccer League.
The Orange Crush EGU10 girls finished a season they should all be proud of. Madyson Ortiz scored an impressive goal, assisted by Aarya Mulmi and Natalie Reed. Michelle Ceja, Lania Donovan and Steily Aybar provided strong defense while Wafaa Chibani played resilient goaltending.
The FB5 Red Dragons dropped a close, hard fought match to end the season. Thank you to all players and parents for a great fall season. It was a pleasure to work with all the boys.
The FB2 Property Surgeons lost 3-1 in a hard fought back-and-forth battle. Triplets Stephen, Paul, and David Christensen played great, as did Yousef Hasan. The two goals were scored by Efe Tatar and Gabe Locklear.
The Elite Soccer Camps Bull Dogs won their final game of the season, 1-0, off a Katelynn Salgado goal against H&S Ice Cream. Molly Gunning and Etta Funke played great in goal, and Chloe Whelan worked hard in the midfield. Amanda Fagnani, Jaelyn Beauvais, Adelicia Parise, and Rita Adouchaaoua all played a good game on defense.
Lea Boguniecki, Sophie Mazuroski, Annabelle Pasacreta and Ashlynn Trenchard also put in a commendable effort in the win for the Elite Soccer Bull Dogs.
The Elite Soccer Camps West Haven U11 Girls Travel team played at home against Wallingford Saturday afternoon, coming out on top 5-1. The defense was solid as usual, led by Olivia Trenchard, Camryn Flaherty and Camryn Beauvais.
Alyvia Ginsberg and Josephina Lakaj helped the Westies to victory through solid goaltending. Anna Atterbury, Brooke Flaherty and Brooke Throm all scored. Cynthia Burns contributed to the winning effort with a hard working take in the midfield.
The West Haven U10 Girls Developmental Travel team played at home to Cheshire in their final game of the season on Saturday, ending 2-2 against a strong side. Jaelyn Beauvais anchored the defense, helped out by Niamh Chesson, Rilee Lewis, Sophie Mazuroski and Annabelle Pasacreta. Molly Gunning, Ashlynn Trenchard and Aylin Soto combined some good passes to create scoring opportunities for the Westies, which Alexandria Nunes took advantage of and put in the back of the net. Kayla Burt was solid in goal, while Katelynn Salgado and Jaylyn Powell showed their usual hustle for the Westies.

(October 23, 2016) - Here are some of the week’s highlights from the West Haven Youth Soccer League.
The FB5 Red Dragons fell short 3-1 in a rain shortened game. The Red Dragons’ lone goal was netted by Aedan Guarino. Great heart was displayed by both teams, as they toughed it out in the cold and rain.
The Elite Soccer Camps West Haven U11 Girls Travel team played two tough opponents this weekend. Saturday afternoon, the girls played rival Orange, coming out on top 1-0. Alijianna Atterbury scored the game's only goal. Cameron Beauvais, Camryn Flaherty, Olivia Trenchard and Isabelle Nagle were stellar on defense, helping to keep Orange off the board. Summer Krajcir and Abigail Phelan both played a great game as well. The Westies played again on Sunday afternoon, tying a solid Clinton team 0-0. The Westies had the better of the play, but couldn't find the back of the net. Cynthia Burns, Ariana Izzo, and Josephina Lakaj all worked hard in the midfield. Ava Murphy and Alyvia Ginsberg split time in-between the posts, and kept Clinton from scoring. Brooke Throm and Brooke Flaherty both hustled on offense and kept the pressure on Clinton.

(October 16, 2016) - The Elite Soccer Camps Bulldogs lost a tough match against EG1 2-0 early Saturday afternoon. Adelicia Parise and Amanda Fagnani worked hard on defense, and Lea Boguniecki played a solid game in midfield. Jaelyn Beauvais stifled a few attacks, and Katelynn Salgado and Chloe Whelan worked hard to create chances for the Elite Soccer Camps Bulldogs in the loss.
The West Haven U10 Girls Developmental Travel team played against a very skilled Haddam-Killingworth team Sunday afternoon, and came away with a 1-1 draw. Amanda Fagnani played an aggressive game on defense, joined in stopping H-K's attacks by Sophie Mazuroski, Rilee Lewis, and Llyanna Griffith-Waite. Andreya Bridges, Aylin Soto, Etta Funke and Molly Gunning played well in the midfield. Jaylyn Powell scored for the Westies. Isabella Eyler, Chloe Whelan and Ashlynn Trenchard pushed H-K late in the game to get the go ahead goal, and only strong goal keeping from the other team preserved the tie.
The FG1 Shoreline Wellness Center Gray Wolves played a well matched game against the FG3 Gunning Law Firm. Scoring goals for the Wolves were Tessa Santos, Kaylee Pellino, and Jocelyn Silber. Katie Mondo and Samantha Boyd gave strong support on the field as well. Finley Gunning, Mariella Cappetta and Marcy Funke all scored for the Gunning Law Firm. Finley Gunning and Haleigh McCarthy showed great foot skills with their solid pull back turns. Sophie Jayne, Amijah Jones and Alex Lindsay played aggressive on the offensive end. Michelle Mora -Cyrus, Gianna Sladibar and Aunjolie Pierre Louis played solid and strong defense. All the girls continue to improve together as a team and all displayed great passing skills.
The Gunning Law Firm GB2 played an intense game against the Orange Team. For the Gunning Law Firm, Charlie Gunning and Mason Walker scored while Trent Fagan, Tobias Worcholic and Evan Rodriguez played strong on the defensive end. All the boys continue to improve and work hard on their foot skills, plus show great teamwork and sportsmanship.
The FB5 Red Dragons fell short to a tough Irish green team 3-1. FB5’s lone goal was scored by Charles Sutton Jr. Jude Geagan-Chevez played great D, while Aaron Cabacungan showed impressive offensive footwork. Kaiden O’Neill played great as well.
Top Hat Dance Academy's GG1 Grey Hedgehogs defeated GG3 thanks to goals by Lena Funke, Stella Porto, Vanisha Patel, and Marina Serpaglia.
EG4 Orange Crush played an impressive game. Natalie Reed led the offense, assisted by Sienna Delucia, Lania Donovan and Steily Aybar. Gianna Buono, Ashley Correa-Castelan and Michelle Ceja provided a rock solid defensive effort, while Wafaa Chibani, and Leilani Platt displayed strong goaltending.
EB2 lost to EB4 3-1. The Christensen Triplets – Stephen, Paul and David – played a great game. Great field coverage was provided by Jomar Vasquez and the lone goal came from Gabe Locklear.
The West Haven U9 boys soccer team travelled up I-91 on Friday night for a friendly against host Wallingford U9. After an entertaining match the Westies came away with a 2-0 win. In the first half, Westies' forward Gabe Locklear barely beat the Wallingford goalie to a loose ball and poked it rolling toward the goal line. Sean Studley won a foot race versus a defender to the ball and ripped it into the back of the net for a 1-0 West Haven lead. Dylan Agvent was solid in goal in the first half for West Haven, making a few clutch saves, while Roman Vogel, Brandon Sihophong and Malik Ouro Adei played strong defense.
In the second half, Ouro Adei was dominant at central defense and the Westies controlled most of the play. Yunis El Mouki and Devin Dina split time in goal and both were mostly unchallenged. Locklear scored a nice goal midway through the half by cutting the ball to space and firing a shot off the far post and in. Midfielders Nate Santiago, Efe Tatar, Ethan Collazo and Tom Williams worked hard on both offense and defense all game long. It was a great team win for this young squad.

(October 2, 2016) - The Division EG U 10 Girls team Orange Crush continued its strong play on Saturday. Madyson Ortiz led the offense with her first goal of the season assisted by Natalie Reed, Gianna Buonu and Aarya Mulmi. Wafaa Chibani, Ashley Correa-Castelan, Steily Aybar, Lillian Elantour and Michelle Ceja provided another solid defensive effort, while Lania Donovan and Leilani Platt held off many scores with solid goaltending.
The FB5 Red Dragons won 5-2. Goals by Chase Watson, Brendan Spreyer, Charles Sutton and Lamont Wods. Great footwork was on display by Ryan Walsh with a good defensive effort by Coen Cerullo.
The Lemay Motors Maroon Strikers defeated WH Police Local 5-3. The Strikers were led by Kennedi Stafford, Savannah Lopez, and Mary Foley. Luciana Campouerde, Nada El Mouki and Alicina Tepeti also played well.
CDG1 won 6-3. Mayssam Mandhouj and Nadia Piroli combined for three goals. Serena Ugas did an amazing job in goal in the second half.
The Elite Soccer Camps Bulldogs defeated H&S Ice Cream 1-0. Jaelyn Beauvais scored the game's lone goal, while Etta Funke and Molly Gunning kept the shut out in goal for the Bulldogs. Isabella Eyler locked down the other team's forwards playing center defense, and Katelynn Salgado worked hard to keep the ball for her team. Ashlynn Trenchard, Sophie Mazuroski and Annabelle Pasacreta executed excellent passes in the win.
The Elite Soccer Camps U11 Girls Travel team topped Milford. Iriana Izzo scored two goals, including a goal late in the second half off of an Olivia Trenchard assist to seal the win. Ava Murphy and Alyvia Ginsberg kept the clean sheet for West Haven. Camryn Beauvais, Camryn Flaherty and Isabelle Nagle joined Trenchard in defensive duties, and did a great job shutting down Milford's attackers. Brooke Flaherty, Summer Krajcir, Abigail Phelan and Alijianna Atterbury also shined in the win.
The West Haven U10 Girls Developmental Travel team beat Milford 7-4. Isabella Eyler picked up a hat trick. Molly Gunning, Jaelyn Beauvais, and Alexandria Nunes also scored. Gunning also combined with Sydni Gayle and Kayla Burt to play an excellent game in goal. Amanda Fagnani, Niamh Chesson, Rilee Lewis and Andreya Bridges did a great job on defense, while Ashlynn Trenchard and Lucy Warren worked hard in the midfield.
The Gunning Law Firm FG3 played an aggressive game against Z's Corner Cafe. Haleigh McCarthy, Marcy Funke and Alex Lindsay all scored for the GLF. Finley Gunning, Mariella Cappetta, Sophie Jayne and Amijah Jones were offensively fierce. McKenzie Jacksics, Madison Jacksics, Leila Lancaster, Aunjolie Pierre-Louis,Gianna Saldibar and Arianna Thorne played aggressive defense.
The Gunning Law Firm GB2 played an intense game against the GB3. Charlie Gunning, Jayson Granada, Sebastian Garcia -Rubi and Maeson Walker all scored for the GLF. Trent Fagan, Evan Rodriguez and Tobias Warcholic played aggressively on defense. The entire team played with heart and displayed great sportsmanship.

(September 26, 2016) - The EG4 Orange Crush played a great game on Saturday. Natalie Reed led the offense with her first goal of the season supported by Madyson Ortiz and Aarya Mulmi. Steily Aybar, Michelle Ceja, Ashley Correa-Castelan, and Wafaa Chibani provided strong defense while Leilani Platt and Lania Donovan provided solid goaltending.
In CDG1’s game, Alayna Brown had a great goal with an assist from Gloria Rodriguez. Alexandra Valverde had 7 saves the first half and scored during the second half. Kamryn Harkin played great on defense.
The FB5 Red Dragons won a hard fought 4-1 victory. The goals came from Lamont "Monty" Woods, Brendan Spreyer and Charles Sutton Jr., while Evan Lennon and Edward Morey locked down the defense.
The EB2 Property Surgeons International Blue Warriors were defeated by EB1 4-1. For EB2, Jeff Walker, Mohamed Sow, Yousef Hasan, Aiden Fabian, and Andrew Verderame showed good sportsmanship plus good field play.
The West Haven 10U boys travel soccer B team opened their season with a 2-1 win over Shelton on Saturday afternoon at Peterson Field. Trailing 1-0 in the second half, Malik Ouro Adei fired a shot that the Shelton goalie saved. Sean Studley then beat a defender to the loose ball and flicked it into the net to tie the game at one.
Gabe Locklear then converted a breakaway to complete the scoring for the Westies. Yunis El Mouki and Dylan Agvent each played one half and both were superb in goal for West Haven.
The Elite Soccer Camps U11 Girls Travel team lost to Orange 4-3. Alijianna Atterbury netted two goals, while Abigail Phelan and Cynthia Burns worked hard in the midfield. Isabelle Nagle, Camryn Flaherty and Camryn Beauvais played well on defense, and Ava Murphy gave a strong effort in goal.
The West Haven U10 Girls Developmental Travel team played Southington Saturday afternoon, falling 5-2. Isabella Eyler scored both goals for West Haven, one off an Aylin Soto assist. Riley Lewis, Sophie Mazuroski, and Annabelle Pasacreta put in a solid effort on defense, and Jasmine Trigueros tried hard in goal. Katelynn Salgado, Sydni Gayle and Llyanna Griffith-Waite also did their best in the game.

Chloe Whelan scored for the Bulldogs, while Rita Abouchaaoua, Lea Boguniecki, and Amanda Fagnani all played well in the midfield. Etta Funke and Molly Gunning did great in goal, each coming up with some key saves. Ashlynn Trenchard hustled down the wings, as Annabella Pasacreta and Sophie Mazuroski both put in a great game in the win for the Elite Soccer Bulldogs.
The FG1 Shoreline Wellness Center Gray Wolves won a close game over FG2 Z's Corner Cafe. Scoring goals for the Wolves were Sophia Locklear, Tessa Santos, and Lexi Lucas. Lia Powers and Mackenzie Fein gave strong support on the field.
The CDG3 Lemay Motors Maroon Strikers won 6-3 over CDG4 Oyster River Energy. The Strikers were led by
Mary Foley, Nina Reed and Kennedi Stafford, Savannah Lopez and Maryorie Hernadez. Caydance Hill, Ezri Ramiez and Alexandra Medina-Rosero played great defense.
FB6 was defeated. Gavin Miller and Marcos Tepetl played well up front. Jon Boguniecki did a good job turning the ball away on the back line.

(September 19, 2016) - The EG3 Elite Soccer Camps Bulldogs lost to EG1 3-0. Amanda Fagnani and Adelicia Parise put in a solid effort on defense, while Rita Abouchaaoua and Katelynn Salgado both worked hard at forward. Lea Boguniecki and Molly Gunning played well in the field for the Elite Soccer Bulldogs.
The U10 Girls Developmental Travel team won their season opener 5-2 against Milford. Kayla Burt and Etta Funke played well in net, and Isabella Eyler, Niamh Chesson, Molly Gunning, Chloe Whelan and Alexandria Nunes all scored. Ashlynn Trenchard had an assist while playing a strong game in midfield, and Jaelyn Beauvais and Jaylyn Powell both played well in the win.
The FG1 Shoreline Wellness Center Gray Wolves played a strong game against The Gunning Law Firm Red Robins. Kaylee Pellino, Stella Savoia, Mama Kamara, and Brynn Gooley scored for FG1. Jocelyn Silber and Justyna Fekieta showed fantastic defensive skills on the field.
The FB2 Light Blue Warriors won a very competitive contest 6-5. In the win, Rida Saanon showed excellent footwork, and Alex Granada and Christopher Ramirez both played great defense for the Warriors. It was a total team effort to help the Warriors get their first win of the young season.
The GG1 Top Hat Dance Academy Grey Hedgehogs defeated GG3. GG1 featured excellent field play from Jocelyn Kenny and Chloe Outlaw and awesome defense by Marina Serpaglia.

EB2 Property Surgeons International lost to EB6 3-0. EB2 received great field play from Paul Christensen, Isaac Irizarry, Aaron Abraham Nathan Santiago and Jomar Vasquez.
