Westies fall to Foran in Opener
Lions post 5-2 victory

(April 5, 2018) - The West Haven girls tennis team opened the 2018 spring season with a 5-2 loss against Foran in Milford Thursday afternoon. The Westies posted lone victories in singles and doubles action.
In singles play, top-seeded sophomore Jovanna Gaetano defeated Grace Hiza 6-1, 6-2, second-seeded junior Skylar Serenson fell to Kyra Johnson 6-4, 6-1, third-seeded Shea Clarke lost 6-0, 6-0 against Sarah Lockwood, and fourth-seeded Kiara Walker lost 6-4, 6-3 against Arshia Puri.
In doubles play, top-seeded Ariana Nguyen and Savannah Lopez dropped a 6-0, 6-3 decision against Natalie Hubler and Izzy Connelly, while second-seeded Rua Osman and Jasmine Brown topped Vaishnavi Bulusu and Clea O'Neil 6-2, 6-4. Third-seeded Fatima Al Rashed and Jennylee Malpica lost 6-0, 6-1 against Eleanor Noyes and Meghan Stokes.

West Haven posts 5-2 victory over Platt Tech

(April 9, 2018) - The West Haven girls tennis team picked up its first victory of the season with a 5-2 decision over Platt Tech Monday afternoon. The win improved West Haven's record to 1-1 on the year.
In singles action, top-seeded Jovanna Gaetano defeated Juliana Pinto 8-0, second-seeded Skylar Serenson fell to Johana Campoverde 8-6, third-seeded Shea Clarke topped Crystal Jacome 8-3, and fourth-seeded Kiara Walker defeated Kim Chiroy 8-3. Fifth-seeded Ariana Nguyen topped Te’Ajai Hall 8-1.
In doubles play, top-seeded Rua Osman and Savannah Lopez defeated Aiyane Mattoso and Vania De La Cruz 9-7. Second-seeded Jessica Goodwin and Maria Clara Veloso of Platt Tech topped. Jennylee Malpica and Megan Mendoza 9-7.

(April 11, 2018) - The West Haven girls tennis team improved to 2-1 with a 5-2 victory over East Haven Wednesday afternoon in West Haven.

In singles play, top-seeded Jovanna Gaetano defeated Jenna Pane 6-1, 6-0, second-seeded Skylar Serenson topped Autumn Hernandez 6-0, 6-2 and third-seeded Kiara Walker defeated Nhi Trinh 3-6, 7-5, 6-4. Fourth-seeded Ariana Nguyen also won, topping Jade Roberts 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.
In doubles play, top-seeded Rua Osman and Savannah Lopez beat Emma Luden and Riya Patel 6-4, 6-3.

East Haven's Sophia Angueira and Kelly Wysocki defeated Fatima Al Rashed and Megan Mendoza 6-4, 4-6, 6-0, while third-seeded Gianna Clemente and Carolyn Miller of East Haven defeated Alyna Nguyen and Maryn Lovallo 6-2, 6-3.

(April 17, 2018) - After posting three straight team victories after an opening day loss, the West Haven girls tennis team saw that winning streak snapped with a 6-1 loss against Sacred Heart Academy in West Haven Tuesday. With the loss, West Haven fell to 3-2 on the year.

WH falls to Hamden 6-1

(April 17, 2018) - The West Haven girls tennis team lost its second straight match with a 6-1 setback against Hamden Wednesday afternoon in Hamden. West Haven fell to 3-3 with the loss.
In singles play, Jovanna Gaetano picked up West Haven's lone victory as she defeated Janaya Laude (HH) 6-0, 6-0. Sophia Flanders topped second-seeded Skylar Serenson 6-1, 6-0, third-seeded Ariane Maxwell defeated Ariana Nguyen 6-1, 6-4, and fourth-seeded Caroline Alexander topped Savannah Lopez 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles action, top-seeded Aria Ahmed and Emily Lancor defeated Alyna Nguyen and Maryn Lovallo 6-0, 6-0, while second-seeded Grace Ford and Anais Grace topped Jenna Massaro and Mya Rodriguez 6-0, 6-0. Third-seeded Maia Radcliffe and Aleah Grindell defeated Esther Danso and Diamond Bakare 6-0, 6-0.

(April 20, 2018) - The West Haven girls tennis team dropped its third straight match and fell to 3-4 on the season with a 7-0 loss against North Haven in West Haven Friday afternoon.

In singles play, top-seeded Julia Migliorini defeated Jovanna Gaetano 6-1, 6-0, second-seeded Rachel Petry topped Skylar Serenson 6-2, 6-2, and third-seeded Lily Mezzi defeated Shea Clarke 6-0, 6-4. Fourth-seeded Anna Wooton defeated Ariana Nguyen 6-0, 6-0.

Losing streak reaches four in 6-1 loss

(April 23, 2018) - After opening the season with three wins in its first four matches, the West Haven girls tennis team has lost four straight matches. The latest loss came Monday afternoon with a 6-1 decision on the road against Sheehan.
In singles play, top-seeded Jovanna Gaetano topped Justine Hoover 6-4, 6-3-6. Second-seeded Srivani Agnihotram defeated West Haven's Skylar Serenson 6-1, 6-4, Grace Waldron topped Ariana Nguyen 6-3, 6-0, third-seeded Allyssa Cassella topped Fatima Al Rashed 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles play, Sheehan's Crystal Gallagher and Christina Cappola defeated Rua Osman and Megan Mendoza 6-0, 6-0, and second-seeded Shreya Patel and Rishima Patel topped Maryn Lovallo and Alyna Nguyen 6-1, 6-0. Third-seeded Kirsten Beebe and Caroline Dighello of Sheehan topped Jenna Massaro and Mya Rodriguez 8-0.

(April 24, 2018) - The West Haven girls tennis team dropped its fifth consecutive match with a 5-2 decision against Lyman Hall in Wallingford Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, West Haven dropped to 3-6 on the year.
In singles play, top-seeded Jovanna Gaetano topped Shayna Sanford 6-0, 6-0 and second-seeded Skylar Serenson defeated Lexie Agro 6-2, 6-1. Lyman Hall's third-seeded Savannah Farkash defeated Shea Clarke 7-5, 6-3, and fourth-seeded Kiera Farley defeated Kiara Walker 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
In doubles play, Lyman Hall swept all three matches as top-seeded Hannah Russel and Nicole Nicefaro topped Ariana Nguyen and Savannah Lopez 6-0, 6-1, second-seeded Robyn Honyotski and Bianca Vega topped Rua Osman and Jasmine Brown 7-6, (10-8), 6-0;, and third-seeded Abbey Pallas and Abigail Murphy beat Megan Mendoza and Maryn Lovallo 6-1, 6-1.

Tigers post 5-2 win

(April 26, 2018) - Looking to snap a five-match losing streak, the West Haven girls tennis team knew it was in for a battle against undefeated Mercy. While the Westies put up a fight, Mercy prevailed 5-2 in West Haven Thursday afternoon.
The loss was West Haven's sixth straight and dropped the team record of the Westies to 3-7 on the season.
In singles action, top-seeded Jovanna Gaetano of West Haven defeated Juliette Piazza 6-0, 6-1, and second-seeded Skylar Serenson defeated Abby Weaver 6-4, 6-3.
Mercy's Jenna Ireland topped Shea Clarke of West Haven in the third slot 6-0, 6-0, while fourth-seeded Jordyn Belcourt of Mercy topped Kiara Walker 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles play, top-seeded Marie Emerson and Meg Brodeur of Mercy defeated Ariana Nguyen and Rua Osman 6-2, 6-2. Mercy's second seed of Julia Wenceslco and Katie Dougherty defeated Fatima Al Rashed and Jasmine Brown 6-1, 6-0, and third-seeded Maggie Garcia and Ava Borkoeski of Mercy topped Megan Mendoza and Jennylee Malpica 8-1.

(April 30, 2018) - The West Haven girls tennis team dropped its seventh match in a row with a 5-2 decision against Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden Monday afternoon.
In singles play, West Haven's top seed of Jovanna Gaetano defeated Alley Galusko 6-0, 6-0. Sacred Heart's second seed of Maia Jackabowski topped Skylar Serenson 6-2, 6-2, while West Haven's Kiara Walker defeated Morgan Duffany 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 in the third slot. Sarah Matthews topped West Haven's Savannah Lopez 6-3, 6-2 in the fourth slot.
In doubles play, Liz Mackey and Cambell Doyens topped West Haven's Rua Osman and Shea Clarke 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Second-seeded Colleen Doyle and Emily Bierny defeated Megan Mendoza and Alyna Nguyen 6-1, 6-0, while third-seeded Nora Shannon and Sloane Summerfield defeated Fara Naijari and Faith Haupt 6-0, 6-0.

Cheshire posts 6-1 win

(May 1, 2018) - The West Haven girls tennis dropped its eighth straight match with a 6-1 loss at Cheshire Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, West Haven fell to 3-9 on the year.
The Westies picked up their lone victory in singles play as top-seeded Jovanna Gaetano defeated Caroline Jentzen 6-0, 6-1. The Rams took home the rest of the matches in the contest.
Second-seeded Camille Bisson defeated Skylar Serenson 7-5, 6-0, third-seeded Sydney Wang topped Ariana Nguyen 6-3, 6-0, and fourth-seeded Alyssa Behuniak defeated Savannah Lopez 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles play, top-seeded Kelsea Mann and Jenny Wang topped Shea Clarke and Jasmine Brown 6-0, 6-0, second-seeded Christine Anthony and Olivia Santoro topped Fatima Al Rashed 6-0, 6-0, and third-seeded Shivina Padhi and Megan Crowley topped Megan Mendoza and Maryn Lovallo 6-1, 6-0.

(May 2, 2018) - The West Haven girls tennis team snapped its eight-match losing streak with a 4-3 road decision over East Haven Wednesday afternoon. With the win, West Haven improved to 4-9 on the year.
Top-seeded Jovanna Gaetano of West Haven Jenna Pane 6-3, 6-1, and second-seeded Skylar Serenson topped Nhi Trinh 6-1, 6-0. Third-seeded Ariana Nguyen beat Jade Roberts 7-5, 6-4, and fourth-seeded Savannah Lopez defeated Carolyn Miller 6-1, 6-3.

(May 7, 2018) - After defeating Platt Tech for its second match victory in a row, the West Haven girls tennis team was looking to extend the streak to three. Hosting Jonathan Law, the Westies were unable to do so as Law topped West Haven 6-1 in West Haven Monday afternoon.
With the loss, West haven fell to 5-10 on the year.
West Haven's lone win came in singles play as top seed Jovanna Gaetano defeated Monica Pydipati 6-1, 6-1.
Law's second seed of Jenna Bagdasarian defeated Skylar Serenson 6-0, 6-1, third-seeded Bridget Sanchez of Law topped Ariana Nguyen 6-1, 6-2; and fourth-seeded Amelia Mower defeated West Haven's Savannah Lopez 6-4, 6-4 in the fourth slot.
In doubles action, top-seeded Thea Ryan and Sreeya Gudlavalleti defeated Rua Osman and Megan Mendoza 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 (super tiebreak), second-seeded Jasmine Enriquez and Jenna Stash of Law topped Maryn Lovallo and Alyna Nguyen 6-1, 6-2, and third-seeded Brynn Costello and Meghan Loftus of Law defeated Jenna Massaro and Faith Haupt 8-1.
