WH places tenth

(May 17, 2016) - The West Haven girls track team placed tenth in the Southern Connecticut Conference West Sectionals Tuesday afternoon. Mercy won with 127 points and Hamden was second with 115.
The 4 x 100 team of junior Latyana March, sophomore Sherifat, Osumah, junior Charnae Epps and senior Destinty Clark placed sixth, while Clark was fourth in the triple jump at 33-08.
Westies drop Pair
WH loses to Branford and Lauralton Hall

(May 4, 2016) - The West Haven girls track team fell to Branford and Lauralton Hall Wednesday afternoon in a meet at West Haven. The Westies fell to the Crusaders 76-44 and Branford 109-22.
West Haven's Destiny Clark won the lone event for West Haven, placing first in the 200 in 28.08 seconds.
Westies fall to Mercy
Tigers post 104-43 win

(May 2, 2016) - The West Haven girls track team fell to Mercy 104-43 Monday afternoon. The Westies won just four events in the loss.

West Haven won the 4 x 100 relay with a team of junior Latyana March, sophomore Sherifat Osumah, junior Charnae Epps and senior Destiny Clark in a time of 54.4 seconds. March won the 100 in 13.3 seconds, Clark won the 200 in 26.8 seconds, and senior Deborah Rosemond won the javelin at 84-3.

Westies top Platt Tech
WH posts 114-12 victory

(April 22, 2016) - The West Haven girls track team defeated Platt Tech 114-12 Friday morning. The Westies posted victories in every event but the shot put.

West Haven posted a victory in the 4 x 100 relay in a time of 53.3 seconds with a team of Latyana March, Sherifat Osumah, Charnae Epps and Destiny Clark. Avolyn Nieves won the 100 hurdles in 19.9 seconds, and March won the 100 in 13.5.
Payton Turner won the 1600 in 6 minutes, 52.02 seconds, Natalia Frazier won the 400 in 70.5 and Nieves won the 300 hurdles in 57.0.
Erika Ventura was victorious in the 800 in 3:14.9, Clark won the 200 in 26.5, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Alana Gambardella, Epps, Frazier and Nieves was victorious in 5:04.48.

Emani Stallings won the long jump at 13-9.5, Turner won the triple jump at 32-00, Cheyenne Bermudez won the javelin at 58-9 and Bennings was victorious in the discus at 76-10.
Westies fall to Foran
WH drops 86-57 decision

(April 19, 2016) - The West Haven girls track team dropped an 86-57 decision against Foran in Milford Tuesday afternoon.
The Westies won the 4 x 100 relay and also had victories by Destiny Clark in the high jump at 4 feet - 6 inches and the 200 in 27.2 seconds.

WH finishes 10th in SCC Championship Meet

(May 25, 2016) - The West Haven boys track team placed tenth in the Southern Connecticut Conference Championship meet Tuesday in Wallingford. Amity won the meet with 95 points, Hamden was second with 66, Shelton third with 51 and West Haven tenth with 30.
Junior Abdul Aremu was voted by the coaches as the Male Most Outstanding Performer of the meet. Aremu was part of the victorious 4 x 100 team along with Talon Butler, Jeffrey Flores-Santiago and Andrew Highsmith.
The team, which won in 43.55 seconds, has lost just once all year. That loss came at the Middletown Invitational where it achieved its best performance all year, breaking the school record in 43.27 seconds.
Aremu also won the 100 in 11.19 seconds and the 200 in 22.48.

Butler placed ninth in the 400 with a personal best 52.27, senior Tyler DeGroate was 16th in the 110 high hurdles in 18.08 and sophomore Kevin Colon-Quinones was 22nd in the 300 hurdles in 45.71. Junior Aaron Vaughn threw the discus a personal best of 99 feet.

(May 17, 2016) - The West Haven boys track team placed ninth in the Southern Connecticut Conference West sectionals Tuesday afternoon with 42 points. Hamden won with 113.5 points and Xavier was second with 107.
Junior Abdul Aremu had a big day as he was second in the 100 in 11.39 seconds, won the 200 in 22.65 and was part of the victorious 4 x 100 team along with senior Jeffrey Flores-Santiago, junior Talon Butler and senior Andrew Highsmith. Flores-Santiago finished fourth in the 400.

(May 10, 2016) - The West Haven boys track team split a meet with Career and East Haven Tuesday afternoon, falling to East Haven 105-42 and topping Career 103-17.

The Westies won the 4 x 100 relay in in 44.1 seconds with a team of Abdul Aremu, Talon Butler, Jeffrey Flores-Santiago and Andrew Highsmith. Ryan Weber won the 1600 in 5:19.5, Flores-Santiago took home the 400 in 51.3, Khalil Wilson won the 800 in 2:21.0 and Weber also won the 3200 in 12:26.9.

WH falls to North Haven and tops Prep

(May 4, 2016) - The West Haven boys track team split its meet with North Haven and Fairfield Prep Wednesday afternoon. The Westies fell to North Haven 106-44, but topped Fairfield Prep 66-54.

West Haven won the 4 x 100 relay with a team of Bryce Sebastian, Talon Butler, Jeffrey Flores-Santiago and Abdul Aremu. Kevin Colon-Quinones won the 110 hurdles in 16.7, Aremu won the 100 in 11.0 and Blaise Haba was victorious in the 300 in 44.1.
Flores-Santiago also won the 400 in 51.6 and Aremu won the 200 in 22.5.

Westies top Platt Tech
WH posts 87-36 victory

(April 22, 2016) - The West Haven boys track team took on Platt Tech Friday morning and came away with an 87-36 victory.

The West Haven 4 x 800 relay team of Khalil Wilson, Ryan Weber, Jason Frazer and Willie Colon won in 9 minutes, 55.2 seconds and the 4 x 100 relay team of Abdul Aremu, Talon Butler, Jeffrey Flores-Santiago and Andrew Highsmith won in 43.8.
Colon won the 100 hurdles in 19.2, Aremu took home the 100 in 11.3 seconds and Weber won the 1600 in 5:11.00.
Butler won the 400 in 53.1, Colon took home the 300 hurdles in 47.9 and Aremu also won the 200 in 22.9. Weber won the 3200 in 12:04.5, the 4 x 4 00 relay team of Butler, Flores-Santiago, Highsmith and Wilson won in 3:51.7 and Aaron Vaughn won the shot put in 35-7.

Bryce Sebastian was victorious in the long jump at 17-8 and Colon, Butler and Sebastian all jumped 5-4 in the high jump.

(April 20, 2016) - The West Haven boys track team fell to Wilbur Cross in New Haven Wednesday afternoon. Winning only three events, the Westies dropped a 107-30 decision.

Junior Abdul Aremu was a part of all three victorious teams as he won the 100 in 10.99 seconds, the 200 in 23.4 seconds and was also on the victorious 4 x 100 team which won in 43.0 seconds. That team consisted of Talon Butler, Andrew Highsmith, Aremu and Jeffrey Flores-Santiago.

Xavier tops Westies
West Haven falls 102-48

(April 14, 2016) - The West Haven boys track team was looking for its first win of the season Wednesday afternoon. The Westies won nine events, but could not surge past Xavier as the Falcons posted a 102-48 victory in Middletown.
Talon Butler. Jeffrey Flores-Santiago and Andrew Highsmith were part of three victorious events, while Blaise Haba was part of two winning events.
The Westies won the 4 x 100 relay in 44.5 seconds with a team of Butler, Flores-Santiago, Bryce Sebastian and Highsmith. Highsmith also won the 100 in 11.5 seconds.
Flores-Santiago took home the high jump with a distance of 5 feet-4 inches, Haba won the 300 hurdles in 43.3, Butler won the 200 in 23.4 and Haba also won the triple jump at 39-4.
Ryan Weber was victorious in the 3200 in 11 minutes, 32 seconds and the 4 x 400 relay team of Khalil Wilson, Butler, Flores-Santiago, and Highsmith were victorious in 3:39.
Westies fall to Hamden
Season opens with 73-46 loss

(April 5, 2016) - Despite winning nine events, including three by junior Abdul Aremu and two each by junior Talon Butler and sophomore Kevin Colon-Quinones, the West Haven boys track team opened the 2016 season with a 73-46 loss to Hamden at Hamden High Tuesday afternoon.
Aremu and the Westies were victorious in the 4x100 relay in 44.7 seconds with a team of Aremu, Godfrey, senior Andrew Highsmith and Butler. Aremu also won the 100 in 11.2 seconds and the 200 in 22.9.
Colon-Quinones was victorious in the 100 hurdles in 18.5 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 45.2 seconds.
Freshman Bryce Sebastian won the long jump at 17 feet, 7 inches and Butler won the 400 in 53.3. Junior Aaron Vaughn wrapped up the West Haven victories in the discus throw at 90-10.
